Live authentically. The Parkton Hotel, circa 1852, steeped in local history. This was a 19 room place of public accommodation built to take advantage of an inner state railroad, the Baltimore and Susquehanna, that passed through the region in 1838. It was also aligned with a pay-highway, the Baltimore and Yorktown Turnpike Road. The Turnpike brought much produce and cattle before rail transport became the most accepted mode of shipping. The hotel belonged to the Turner-Parke family that owned the entire village and it's mill. The founding family sold the hotel in 1892. At one time there had also been a post office and a millinery shop in the hotel structure itself.
