According to linguists, the word "Shenandoah" is derived from certain indigenous languages, most likely Algonquian. There have been several proposed, but a very alluring one is "Beautiful Daughter of the Stars". The house at 480 Artz Road is located on the north end of the Shenandoah Valley, about 80 minutes from the Metropolitan Washington D.C. area. The charming two-story 3-bedroom, 2-full bathroom farmhouse situated on 2.57 acres is fronted by Pugh's Run. Its bucolic setting on a hill affords a view of the western slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the stream provide access to paddling the North Fork of the river.

Crafts, art, antiques, and vineyards can be visited all along the Valley Pike (Route 11). Historical Civil War sites abound: Hupp's Hill, Belle Grove Plantation, and New Market. At Meems Bottom, one of the last remaining covered bridges takes you to the Route 11 Potato Chip Factory for the best chips around. Hiking and fishing can be enjoyed in the George Washington and Shenandoah National Parks and the new Seven Bends State Park. Luray Caverns and Shenandoah Caverns are nearby as well. And be sure to visit the "Canoe Capital of Virginia", "down valley" in Front Royal. A drive to the Woodstock Fire Tower to take in the Seven Bends of the Shenandoah River at sunset is not to be missed.
